Ireland Steele and Seamus McFly
Ireland Steele and Seamus McFly are a couple of unusually creative kids from
somewhere among the corn fields of northern Ohio. They originally met in
high school where they amused their classmates with adlibbed poetry,
amusing PowerPoint presentations, and celebrity impressions. In an attempt
to bring their unique brand of comedy to the world they looked to the internet,
picked up some cheap microphones, ignored their own lack of technical knowledge
and started recording a podcast.
The Steele/McFly Podcast
The first season of Ireland and Seamus's new show was to be called the
Steele/McFly Podcast. It made sense; podcasts were becoming pretty popular at the
time, even though nobody really seemed to be sure what exactly a podcast was.
Not really sure about how the whole thing would work out, they went ahead with
a sketch comedy show format and started recording.
The first five episodes continued with the comedy sketch style. The episodes were
met with positive reviews by the show's small legion of fans, but the series
creators were starting to get bored with the predictability of the format, and
their growing experience with writing, acting, and editing convinced them that it
was time for a change. Episode 6 finally switched things up by forgoing sketches
in favor of a courtroom drama parody. Episode 7 again changed the formula entirely
by presenting an entire episode in the form of a series of fake movie trailers
in a movie theater.
As part of our limited edition World Tour Box Set, we recorded an in-universe clip
show featuring fictional evil producer Chefgon. If you are visiting the site to
listen to our acclaimed second season (The Steele/McFly World Tour), we recommend
that you skip the majority of the first season and instead listen to this clip
episode as well as episodes 6 and 7, which will serve to introduce most of the
Steele/McFly universe and characters that appear in the second season.
The Steele/McFly World Tour
In 2009, Ireland and Seamus got back together to record another season of their
show. This time around, they dropped the name "Podcast" and went with the title
"The Steele/McFly World Tour" as the name of the show. Unlike the varying styles
of the first season, the World Tour takes the form of an eighty minute story arc
unfolding over the course of 8 episodes, each one taking place in a different
country around the world.
Keeping with their signature style of Hollywood-inspired comedy, each of these
locations is depicted according to television and movie stereotypes. The settings
themselves aren't really all that important, as they simply serve as the weekly
stage for Ireland and Seamus's crazy adventures.
Before continuing on to the episodes, we'd like to thank the great movies that make
our show possible. The various movies and television shows referenced in this
season include, but aren't limited to, James Bond, Serenity, Pirates of the
Carribean, Sweeney Todd, Jurassic Park, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, V for
Vendetta, Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Red Green Show, A Bit of Fry and Laurie,
and The Lion King. Please enjoy the show.
